opening psalms

Psalm 90

Lord, you have been our dwelling place

                    throughout all generations.

                    before the mountains were born

or you brought forth the whole world,

                    from everlasting to everlasting,

                              You are God.

Teach us to number our days,

that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

          Satisfy us in the morning

                    with your unfailing love,

that we may sing for joy

and be glad all our days.

Psalm 97

One thing I have asked of the Lord,

               this is what I seek;

That I may dwell in the house of the Lord,

all the days of my life.

To gaze on the beauty of the Lord,

to seek God’s wisdom in my heart

                    and in the world.

I will see again the goodness of the Lord

in the land of the living.

          Wait for the Lord;

               Be strong and take heart

                    and wait for the Lord.

sun salutations

(20 minutes of mindful movement)

prayer for quiet confidence

O God of Peace,

Who has taught us

that in returning and rest we shall be saved,

in quietness and in confidence shall be our strength.

By the might of your spirit ground us in Presence

where we may be still and know God.

meditation

(20 minutes of seated silence)

closing prayer

As we greet the rising sun and its rays fall on our bodies:

May we be filled with the rays of the Infinite.

May we go from this place as a ray of that Light touching life

with love and compassion.

May we know our real nature of communion with all of life.

May every step on this earth be in step with the harmony of the world.

May we walk in Beauty, every day.

May we stand in Truth.

May we wake up to the beauty within us and around us.

May our practice grow and flower and nourish our lives and work and world,

from moment to moment, and from day to day,

for the sake of ourselves, and all those who love us and know us,

and for the sake of those near and far,

known and unknown.
